Composite Bonding Maintenance in Bromley
Refresh and maintain your composite bonding with a professional assessment, stain removal and polishing. Available for bonding completed at Shmile or elsewhere.
Keep your bonding smooth, polished and looking its best.
A careful refresh for your composite bonding.
Composite bonding can gradually lose some of its original shine or develop surface staining through everyday use. Your maintenance appointment allows us to assess each bonded tooth and professionally refresh the composite.
Your visit includes stain removal, fine polishing, assessment of margins, chips and wear, bite assessment and minor contour adjustments where clinically appropriate.

If additional composite is required, we will explain the treatment and cost before proceeding.

How often should composite bonding be maintained?
There is no fixed interval for everyone, but many patients benefit from professional assessment and maintenance around every 6–12 months.
The ideal interval will depend on the condition of your bonding, your bite, lifestyle and oral hygiene.
Can you maintain composite bonding completed by another dentist?
Yes. We can assess and maintain composite bonding completed elsewhere.
Our standard maintenance fees are £250 for one arch and £350 for both arches.
What are the maintenance prices for Shmile bonding patients?
If your composite bonding was originally completed at Shmile, our preferential maintenance rate is:
£200 for one arch
£250 for both arches
Does the maintenance appointment include repairs?
Minor polishing and contour refinements are included where clinically appropriate.
Adding new composite, repairing significant chips or replacing existing bonding is charged separately. We will discuss any additional treatment and costs with you first.
Can polishing remove stains from composite bonding?
Professional polishing can help remove or reduce superficial staining and restore a smoother, more polished finish.
Deeper discolouration within the composite itself may require repair or replacement.
Is composite bonding maintenance the same as a hygiene appointment?
No. A hygiene appointment focuses mainly on maintaining the health of your teeth and gums.
Composite Bonding Maintenance focuses specifically on assessing, refining and polishing your composite restorations.
Can composite bonding be whitened?
Composite resin does not whiten in the same way as natural tooth enamel.
If you are considering teeth whitening, speak to us first so we can advise on the most appropriate order of treatment.
What happens if my composite bonding is chipped?
Minor contour adjustments may be possible as part of your maintenance appointment.
If new composite material is required to repair or rebuild the area, this will be charged separately.
